So the Buffalo News is going to get rid of anonymous comments. Bad move in my opinion. There is a sign on required and a username so it's easy enough to look at a poster's name and know if it is someone you know posts garbage. On the other hand people that have useful information may be less likely to comment. I once wrote a letter to the editor and it was printed. Some dude looked me up in the phone book and called me about it. WTF? Granted he agreed with me, although from what I remember he took his opinion on the subject farther than I would, but it was still creepy and caused me to not write any more letters to the editor.

I guess "anonymous sources" are fine when the media wants us to blindly accept what they write as the truth but not when the readers want to comment in return.
